Residence Permits
Resident Permit Fee:
The consular fee for to be paid by adults will be € 80 (770.55CNY), for minors € 50 (481.59CNY)
Application procedure:
The following documents must be presented when applying for a residence permit. Unless stated otherwise, documents have to be submitted in original and will be returned after the application has been processed:
- All foreign-language papers and must be translated into German by any professional translating service. In some cases, documents in English are accepted too, if you intend to present such documents please check.
- If the applicant is a minor, the application must be signed by both parents or legal guardians. These signatures must be notarized by a notary public, if not given in front of the Austrian Officer.
- The Austrian Consulate will proceed with complete applications only.
- Applications must be submitted in person (no exceptions).
- Please note that there is no legal claim on obtaining the applied for residency permit.
- Please allow at least two to three months processing time since all applications are to be sent to Austria. In some cases processing by the authority in Austria may take up to several months.
- At the end of processing, the mission will contact you; therefore you have to leave an email-address or a phone number at the mission.
- After positive processing of residency-application, you will be notified by the mission and will then have to apply for a visa in order to collect your residents permit in Austria. You will have to collect the residents permit within 6 months after notification.

- Birth certificate translated and legalized
(All supporting documents must be submitted together and in duplicate - in ORIGINAL and PHOTOCOPY! Ensure all documents requested are provided. Incomplete applications will not be dealt with: Applicants will need to book another appointment to provide the lacking documents.)
Visa applications will be processed as quickly as possible, but visas will not be issued for same-day travel. Exceptions are not permitted. The Embassy recommends that you apply at least three weeks before your date of departure.
