捕鸟蛛英文叫:TARANTULA当欧洲人第一次见到这种大型蜘蛛时惊讶的误认为是 狼蛛的一种,所以直到现在一直沿用TARANTULA 这个狼蛛的名称. 捕鸟蛛在全世界已经发现830多种 每年还在增加之中. 它是一类最原始的蜘蛛.早在石炭纪便已经出现.虽然并没有用网捕猎的能力,但也能结网做窝.在其后的亲戚中才出现了用精密的丝网捕猎的种类.
