SF Loft Dreaming

If I only had the $1.2mil to spend on a pad.... I'm loving the elevated living room floor that appears to float on a sea of rocks, and the kitchen that features a commercial-grade Hobart fridge. Sub-Zero ain't <-*和谐*-><-*和谐*-><-*和谐*-><-*和谐*->! Check it out for yourself.

Mekanism Interview

I'm such a blogger-slacker these days it's unreal. I made a personal vow to do more blogging and I think I made a whole 5 posts, if that, and then quit again. If only there were 36 hours in a day.....
Anyway, just wanted to drop in and tell everyone that I did an interview with the founder of Mekanism Skateboards, and it's currently posted up on SpaceCadetz. If you get a moment, please stop on by and give it a read. It's not too long, and you get to hear about the history and current/upcoming projects direct from Fred Maechler, the founder of this highly innovative brand. Mekanism recently put out its latest collabo skate deck, this time with Invader, and I think the results speak for themselves.

Upper Playground has kind of been in the shadow of HUF lately when it comes to the Bay Area scene. I guess that's because HUF is skate-based and UP is more art-based? Skating is oh-so-trendy these days isn't it. Anyway, I was just on UP's blog and saw something pretty dope. It looks like UP will be releasing a line of custom furniture. They previewed a bookcase and table set from David Choe that are definately unlike anything out there. Would I cop this piece for my place? Probably not, but I like the bold direction that UP is taking this line and look forward to seeing the other pieces from artists like Sam Flores, Estevan Oriol, and Cody Hudson that are scheduled to debut early in 2007.

VW "Fast" Toy Figure

By now you've probably seen the new Volkswagen's "FAST" television ads (created by Crispin Porter + Bogusky) for the new VW GTI. In addition to being pretty damn funny, what the ads don't tell you is that there are actually 600 of these limited-edition toys that come with new GTIs. I'm not quite sure about the specifics on how VW is handling distribution/selling of the FAST toys (i.e. first come first serve?), but the toys are going for upwards of $400 on eBay as of this very moment. I would think that any designer vinyl collector would love to get their hands on one of these. Each toy comes with 4 interchangeable tails and a DVD.
