美国的汽车零件供应商BorgWarner联手保时捷一起开发新的AWD离合器及控制系统，并将不久应用于保时捷的跑车。BorgWarner曾为保时捷911 Turbo提供了VTG (http://www.pcauto.com.cn/newcar/abroad/porsche/0511/352465.html)（Variable Turbine Geometry），而现在他们将涉足AWD。
新的AWD主要的特点有使用一个主动的Gerotor泵及更有效的冷却系统，还有新的电子控制程序。
这套系统基于电子复式离合器。由一个带主离合器的3速联结单元，一个断流阀的放大器和一个可主动冷却的副离合器。与现行许多AWD车型中的四驱不同的是，最新版本有一个第三摩擦元件可以把最大扭矩的承受能力提高到800牛米。
